IMD Chandigarh's prediction of thunderstorm, lighting in Punjab has turned out to be true. Most of the districts of Punjab were hit by late night thunderstorm, lightning on January 22, 2026. Rainfall is continuing even on January 23.

Now, Punjab has braced for 2 more days of rainfall next week. Multiple districts of Punjab are likely to receive two more days of rainfall after Republic Day i.e. January 26, 2026.

Rainfall to return to Punjab after January 26

According to Apple Weather App, Jalandhar is expected to witness two days of rainfall on January 27 and January 28. There is 65-70 percent chances of rainfall in the region.

Ludhiana is also expected to receive two days of rainfall on January 27 and January 28.

Amritsar is expected to witness rainfall on January 27, 2026.

Kapurthala is expected to witness rainfall on January 27 and January 28, 2026.

Pathankot is also expected to receive rainfall on January 27 and January 28, 2026.

Notably, before thunderstorm and lightning hit Punjab on late January 21 night, IMD had revealed the reason behind it. It wrote on X, "Under the influence of three Western Disturbances in quick succession, a wet spell is likely over the Western Himalayan region during the next 7 days."
