

A woman and a child were seriously injured after a speeding Scorpio allegedly lost control and crashed into them while they were standing along the roadside in Jalandhar’s Muslim Colony. The driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled following the accident.
Woman and Child Hit While Standing by Roadside
According to the family, the woman had gone to the market to buy vegetables and was standing near the roadside with the child when the incident occurred.
The woman’s father-in-law, Mohinder Singh, said a Scorpio was allegedly being driven at high speed and was followed by a Fortuner. He claimed that the two vehicles were involved in what appeared to be a chase when the Scorpio driver lost control.
The Scorpio then allegedly veered towards the roadside and struck the woman and child. The force of the collision left both seriously injured.
Locals Rush Injured to Hospital
Following the crash, people present at the spot immediately came to the aid of the victims. The injured woman and child were rushed to a private hospital, where they were admitted for treatment.
The accident created panic in the area, with residents gathering at the scene soon after the collision. The Scorpio was left abandoned at the location after the driver reportedly fled.
Ramamandi Police Take Scorpio Into Custody
After receiving information about the incident, a team from Ramamandi Police Station reached Muslim Colony. Officers took the Scorpio into custody and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Investigating officer Surjit Singh said police had received information through the control room about a woman being injured in Muslim Colony. The police reached the location and took possession of the vehicle.

Police are now examining the sequence of events and gathering information to determine how the accident occurred. Officials are also expected to establish the identity of the driver who allegedly fled after leaving the Scorpio behind.
