Punjabi singer Khan Saab briefly lost his temper during his performance at the annual Bapu Lal Badshah Fair in Nakodar on July 19 after a section of the audience repeatedly stood up and started hooting, disrupting the programme.
The incident took place during the cultural programme held as part of the annual fair at Darbar Almast Bapu Lal Badshah Ji, one of Punjab's well-known religious and cultural gatherings that attracts thousands of devotees and visitors every year and the fair features devotional events as well as cultural performances by popular Punjabi artists.
According to videos from the event, Khan Saab was performing after members of the audience requested him to sing a song from the film Dhurandhar. As he began singing, some young men in the crowd stood up and started hooting, their actions obstructed the view of people seated behind them.
The singer immediately appealed to the youths to sit down so that everyone present could enjoy the performance, he pointed out that when people remain standing, those seated further back are unable to see the stage properly.
As the disturbance continued, Khan Saab became visibly upset and again urged the crowd to cooperate, referring to the large gathering and the hot weather, he said people should remain seated and listen to the programme comfortably.
He also warned that if the situation went out of control and police had to intervene, it would spoil the atmosphere of the event, told the audience that nobody would enjoy the programme if baton charging became necessary.
Expressing concern over the safety of those attending the fair, Khan Saab said someone could suffer a heart attack in the sweltering heat if proper order was not maintained and further remarked that if even one person's son were to lose his life at the event, he would have no answer to give to the family, he emotionally asked where he would find another grown-up child to return to grieving parents.
