Schools, colleges and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) within the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation limits will observe a half-day holiday on October 24, 2026, in view of a religious procession marking Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Parkash Utsav.
According to the district administration, Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia has issued orders directing all government and private educational institutions covered by the order to remain closed after 12 noon on October 24.
The half-day holiday has been announced to facilitate the smooth movement of traffic and residents during the Shobha Yatra and to respect public sentiments associated with the religious occasion.
The directive applies specifically to educational institutions located within the limits of the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation. Institutions outside these limits are not covered by the order as described in the announcement.
Students, parents and educational institutions are advised to check the official district administration notification for any further instructions regarding the holiday.
