In a shocking development, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her 'telephonic friend' in Jalandhar's Mariton Hotel. Jalandhar's Mariton Hotel comes under the jurisdiction of the Rama Mandi police station. Rama Mandi Police Station SHO Manjinder Singh confirmed this to True Scoop and informed that the police received a 112 call and the incident took place at Mariton Hotel.
Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against a man Amandeep Singh Lali who is said to be 27-28 years old. Rama Mandi SHO further informed that the victim was in touch with the accused for the past 2 to 3 months. He described the accused as victim's 'telephonic friend'.
On the other hand, Hotel Mariton's manager Aakash denied the claim that a woman was raped in their hotel.
Initial information suggests that the victim drank a Red Bull that was allegedly intoxicated. Thereafter, the crime was carried out. In this regard, the Rama Mandi police have registered an FIR number 309 under Section 69 of the IPC against Amandeep Singh Lali, but the accused has not yet been arrested.
The woman is a a resident of a village under the jurisdiction of the Nurmahal police station, Phillaur tehsil. She works as a host for various events. She met Amandeep Singh Lali four months ago. They had met two or three times previously in Jalandhar.
The victim has alleged that on the night of October 25, around 10 p.m., Lali called her from his mobile phone and insisted that they meet that same night, saying that they were supposed to get married the next morning and that she should stay with him in the hotel for the night.
She further said that she reached Jalandhar around midnight on her Activa scooter. About two hours later, Lali took her to a hotel where his friends, Harman and Jassi, were also present.
When she asked about them, Lali told her that they were called as witnesses for their marriage. Lali then took her to room number 501 on the fifth floor, while his friends stayed in room number 319 on the third floor.
During this time, he gave her Red Bull mixed with some intoxicant to make her unconscious. When she regained consciousness in the morning, she discovered that there were extensive marks on her body. She stated that she had been forcibly s*xually assaulted.
