

In a shocking development, a woman was allegedly drugged and raped on pretext of marriage by a man she was in touch for the past 6 months. On the complaint of the woman, an FIR has been filed. The woman in her complaint has alleged that she was drugged and raped in Mariton Hotel in Jalandhar.
Initial information suggests that the victim drank a Red Bull that was allegedly intoxicated. Thereafter, the crime was carried out. In this regard, the Rama Mandi police have registered an FIR number 309 under Section 69 of the BNS against Amandeep Singh Lali, but the accused has not yet been arrested.
Furthermore, two more friends of the said accused are also under the scanner.
ADCP Aakrishi Jain while talking to the media gave details about the case. ADCP Jain said-
"A girl informed the police that she had known a boy for the past six months. She stated that the boy invited her to a hotel and told her that he would marry her the next day. The girl alleged that two of the boy's friends, who were supposed to be witnesses for the marriage also met her at the hotel."
"The girl stated that the boy (person who called her at the hotel) raped her after she felt unconscious under the pretext of marriage. This incident occurred at the Mariton Hotel, and an FIR has been filed. As per the complaint, a charge has been filed against the man under Section 69 of BNS. The main culprit is currently absconding, but we have obtained footage and evidence from the scene. Forensic examination of the spot is also being done. The role of the friends will be ascertained during the investigation."
"There is no information about any involvement or connection of any staff of Mariton Hotel. If anything like this comes to light during the investigation, we will keep you updated. The victim has alleged that she was made unconscious after she drank Red Bull that was allegedly intoxicated. But that is still a matter of forensic examination. As per her consent, medical examination of the victim will also be done. Currently, all three accused are absconding."
It is pertinent to mention here that Hotel Mariton's manager Aakash had earlier denied the claim that a woman was raped in their hotel.
