Last year, the then deputy CM of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot andhis supporters left to camp at an undisclosed location in Haryana to expresstheir differences.

The action endangered the stability of the state government.

When the Congress high command intervened and promisedaction to Pilot, then he and his supporters returned. They were gone for abouta month.

Pilot said that it has been ten months and none of theso-called swift actions by the committee to handle his grievances have beenresolved. He expressed dissatisfaction that half of the term is over.

Pilot presented the case of his and his supporters effortswhen he regretted that their wholehearted efforts were being devalued.

A national daily reported that the Congress high command isattempting to work out a cabinet reshuffle in Rajasthan. The same daily claimedthat Pilot informed it that the high command has failed to deliver on thepromises made to him and the other legislators.

It is pertinent to remind that in July 2020, Pilot alongwith his supporters left Jaipur to protest. He was removed from the post ofPradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president.

When the senior leadership intervened and set up a committeeuner general secretary Ajay Maken, then Pilot and his supporters returned.

When the above quoted daily approached Maken regarding this,he clarified that it was not the right time to speak and disclosed that therewere vacancies in the Rajasthan government and they may be filled soon.

However, in the case of the ruling party in Rajasthan acabinet reshuffle is a non-trivial matter because there are two camps both ofwhich have been separately promised positions within the state cabinet.

At the time of writing, out of 30 posts, 21 are filled and 9are vacant. Of these nine vacancies, three were created when Pilot and hissupporters were relieved of their posts owing to their mutiny.

Now, Pilot would want more of his supporters to find a placein the cabinet while Gehlot is backing those independents and former BSPlegislators who saved his government during the floor test in August 2020.

A Congress leader was claimed to have informed theabove-quoted daily that the promises by Pilot and by Gehlot are valid in theirown right.

This leader was claimed to respect the prowess of both Pilotand Gehlot as the former consolidated Gujjar votes while the latter won therecent bypolls.

Sources informed that Sonia Gandhi is not in favour ofreplacing the CM Gehlot as he is counted among the senior leaders of the party.

It is pertinent to add that when Rahul Gandhi resigned, offer was presented to Rajastan CM Gehlot and Punjab CM Captain AmarinderSingh. Both of these leaders declined the offer even though they are loyaliststo the party.

Further, the Gandhi family itself is divided on the Pilotand Gehlot issue.

Just as Congress suffered when Jyotiraditya Scindia joinedBJP, so can be the case if Pilot chooses to do the same. Though, Pilot has saidthat he will not leave Congress.
