Pakistan has once again launched missile and drone attacks on the several regions of India, including Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab on May 9, 2025. It is to be noted that this was the second consecutive attack launched on India by Pakistan as the previous attack was a fail and all drones and missiles were neutralised by the Indian Defense Force. 

Notably, in Punjab, the attack was reported in Amritsar, Ferozepur and Pathankot. The situation in these regions is tense. 

According to a current update, a drone fell in some region of Ferozpur, which has resulted in the death of two (2) residents. The reports have suggested that the lights of the area were turned on, which could possibly have directed the drone to the region. 

During this time, the authorities have asked the citizens to maintain a blackout situation and avoid turning on lights. 

Details of the blackout in different regions of Punjab - 

Fazilka - 

Following the incident in Ferozpur, the administration of Fazilka has announced that people must follow blackouts and has also urged the people to remain calm and composed. It is to be noted that the authorities have also asked residents to stay inside and away from windows. 

Sri Muktsar Sahib - 

The authorities of Shri Muktsar Sahib have asked for an immediate blackout on Friday night. Amid this time the citizens have been urged to stay indoors and away from windows. 

Hoshiarpur - 

Watch patrols have been initiated in Hoshiarpur to monitor the situation and suspect any unethical activity. According to the reports, the Deputy Commissioner has mentioned that essential services for each village have been designated. 

Mohali and Kharar - 

These two regions - Mohali and Kharar of Punjab have decided to observe voluntary blackout in residential areas on Friday. 

Bathinda - 

According to several reports, the government of Bathinda has announced planned blackouts on Friday nights.

Panchkula - 

The authorities of Panchkula has also ordered blackouts and have asked the people to stay indoor and follow all the required precautions.
