The second day of the first Test in Chennai between India and England continues. England has scored 300+ runs losing 3 wickets. England did not lose a single wicket in the first hour. Captain Joe Root and Ben Stokes are at the crease. So far, there has been a 50+ run partnership between the two. England has reached a strong position. Batting for England, Joe Root completed his 150 runs and eyeing for another double hundred. Going by the facts shared by Cricbuzz, ten of Root's 20 Test hundreds have been 150 or more (and another one 149*). His last four Test 100s: 226, 228, 186, 151 (not out). 

The England team came out to bat after winning the toss and scored 263 for 3 wickets on the first day. Opener Rory Burns and Sibley gave the team a good start. Both shared a 63-run partnership for the first wicket. England suffered the first blow as Rory Burns.

Root and Sibley shared a 200-run partnership for the third wicket. This is the biggest partnership for any wicket in India against India since 2013. In 2017, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell of Australia shared 191 runs in the Test played in Ranchi.
