There has been a widespread debate on the spirit of the game for a long around the legitimacy of ‘Mankad’, the discussion is on a boil in recent times since Deepti Sharma ran out English batter Charlotte Dean to win India’s final match of the bilateral series against England.

Amidst talks around the Mankad, Indian seamer Deepak Chahar has made the headline from the 3rd and final T20I match against South Africa, when the bowler warned Tristan Stubbs of running him out during the 16th over of the 1st inning.

Protea batter Stubbs left the pitch early as Chahar was taking a run up to bowl striker Rilee Rossouw, watching the non-striker’s movement Chahar stopped and warned him of stepping out.

As soon, as Stubbs saw Chahar making his move towards the stumps, he knew what he needs to do. Interestingly, there are a number of former English players who are on the side opposing Mankad despite coming from a country that invented the game and laid rules for the world to follow.

India lost against the visitor in the series’ last and final T20I by 49 runs but didn’t cost much, since India already sealed the series by winning the first two encounters.

Rilee Rossouw cornered the headline with his man-of-the-match inning for his quickfire unbeaten century at an impressive strike rate of 208 with 15 boundaries including 8 maximums.

India’s bowling seemed in a trouble yet again with the pack of veteran and young guns together conceding a mammoth 227 making it the year’s 6th such occasion where Indian bowlers failed to restrict opponents below the 200 marks in T20Is.

The only fine mark in the final game came in the form of veteran Dinesh Karthik’s blistering batting show scoring a well nurtured power-packed innings of 46 of just 21 deliveries smashing 4 sixes and as many boundaries.

With Jasprit Bumrah’s ouster officially confirmed by the BCCI, India’s concern in the bowling department has risen dramatically and needs serious attention by the management and players altogether as the team heads to the mega World Cup in Australia later this month.
