Total 292 players will be put for auction comprising of 164 from India while 125 overseas players and 3 will be auctioned from associate nations. Reportedly, all-round players will be in high demand this season of IPL. The auction ceremony will start at 3 PM on Thursday.

According to a report published in a leading daily, the seam bowler allrounders will be in demand because they can help in winning the game. For example, much of the success of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is attributed to Shane Watson.

Now many things depend upon the auction. Rajasthan Royals had relieved their captain Steve Smith after dull show in IPL 2020. As per reports, the Rajasthan team is expected to retain their captain but not at a price that they shelled out for him previously. They are not likely to spend much on him.

Similarly, Glenn Maxwell was released by Kings XI Punjab. It is still awaited whether Punjab will retain Maxwell or not.

Like every year, new players can get big auction amounts. For instance, Rajasthan Royals spent Rs 2.40 crore on Yashasvi Jaiswal for his stint at Vijay Hazare trophy. Even Kerala's Mohammed Azharuddeen is likely to win big in the series due to his previous performance.

As source was quoted by a leading daily that two three franchises have big purses. Kings XI Punjab has Rs 53.20 crore. They are followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore with Rs 35.90 crore while Rajasthan Royals are at third with Rs 34.85 crore.
