After the revamp, the Motera Stadium is ready to host its first international match. The Motera Stadium overthrew Melbourne Cricket Ground to become the largest in the sport. 

The stadium can accommodate 1,10,000 spectators, which is the largest among cricket stadiums, going past the 90,000-mark of the MCG in Australia. The pink-ball Test between India and England will mark the 'debut' of revamped Motera in international cricket. 

As the stadium is gearing up for the return of international action, let's have a look at the specifications of the new Motera Stadium:


For players:

  •  The Motera Stadium has two practice grounds with nine pitches, including extra 11 pitches -- six containing red soil and five of black soil.
  •  The stadium has four dressing rooms for players -- each one inter-connected with two gyms.
  •  The state-of-the-art drainage system has been claimed to ensure the resumption of the game within 30 minutes, even after heavy rainfall.
  •  The stadium also has an Olympic-size swimming pool and a mini 3D theatre.

  

For the audience:

  •  To ensure unobstructed viewing, there are no pillars in the stadium. 
  •  Parking space available for 3,000 cars and 10,000 two-wheeler vehicles.

 

Other specifications:

  •  There are no floodlights in Motera Stadium, making it of its kind international stadium in India to have LED lights installed across the length of the roof. 
  •  The stadium has 76 corporate boxes - the highest in the world (Corporate boxes are luxurious private compartments for better viewing of a sports event).
  •  A Clubhouse with 50 deluxe and five suite rooms.
