Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal, president of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), submitted his resignation on Thursday, citing personal affairs. Gulzar Chahal on Twitter tweeted, "Due to personal reasons I hereby tender my resignation as President of Punjab Cricket Association."

This resignation comes days after former India cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh alleged 'illegal activities' at PCA Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal. Bhajji charged PCA President Gulzar Inder Chahal with improperly granting membership. Harbhajan Singh is the advisor of PCA. He alleged that he received complaints from two Apex Council members as well as PCA secretaries Dilsher Khanna and Surjit Rai after which he had to write this open letter.

Harbhajan Singh alleged that he has got numerous complaints from cricket fans in the last ten days. Bhajji said that PCA Chief Gulzar Inder Chahal is involving around 150 members to cast votes in his favor, which is not in the interest of the Association. It is his duty to put an end to such illegal activity.

According to Harbhajan Singh, Chahal is making decisions without consulting the General Body or the Chief Advisor, which is against the administrative rules of the sports federation as well as the PCA, BCCI, and other regulating regulations. This issue will shortly be brought up with the BCCI by Harbhajan Singh. He demanded that the opinion of the Chief Advisor must be taken in the decisions of the Punjab Cricket Association.
