PCB pays a whopping Rs27 Lakh bill for Biriyani after New Zealand Team cancels tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board had faced huge financial loss after the New Zealand Cricket Board had to cancel their tour to the country due to security reasons.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had mentioned that the officers that came for the security of the team were very expensive. Despite the teams canceling their tour, the PCB had to pay a bill of Rs 27 Lakh in order to cover the pay for their food bills. 


Soon after Team New Zealand canceled their plans of the tour in Pakistan, other teams like England and Wales Cricket Team also withdrew their both men’s and women’s teams. The team had decided to come to Pakistan after a long gap of 18 years. 


The team arrived on the 11th of September and were scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20 international matches. According to the data received, there were five SPs and 500 SSPs who were deployed for ensuring the security of the Kiwis. 


Apart from that Army personals from Islamabad and Rawalpindi were also included. Every security personal was served Biriyani twice a day during the whole time they were on duty.

This cost the PCB a total food bill of about Rs 27 lakhs. The New Zealand Team had to call off their tour mid-way as the there was a rise in the threats that the Government of New Zealand was receiving from the Pakistan Government, which questioned the security of the team.
