PM Modi beholds “fleeting view” of India-England’s 2nd Day Test match, shares pic

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a picture of the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Twitter on Day 2 of the second Test of India Vs England.

Today was the second day of the India and England test match and Prime Minister Narendra Modi happens to be in Chennai, where he is slated to open a series of infrastructure projects. He took to Twitter and posted an aerial image of the MA Chidambaram Stadium which is also called the Chepauk where the second Test between India and England on Sunday was held.

"Caught a fleeting view of an interesting test match in Chennai," PM Modi wrote along with the picture of the stadium. He completed his caption by adding a bat-and-ball emoji as well as flags of India and England.

Recently, the prime minister also hailed Team India's achievements in the Test series against Australia, where the players won against injuries, racial discrimination and won the four-match series.  

In his monthly radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi spoke about the Indian cricket team’s dedication towards the game and how they are making the nation proud. "This month, we got good news from the cricket pitch. After initial hiccups, the Indian team bounced back gloriously and won the series in Australia. Our team's hard work and teamwork was inspiring," PM Modi said. Looks like the PM is also a hardcore fan of cricket like any other in the country.

About the match

India is today's match posted 329 after winning the toss and chose to bat first. 

Rohit Sharma again scored over a century by making 161 runs while Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant chipped in with crucial half-centuries.

Ravichandran Ashwin showed a spectacular game by taking his 29th five-wicket haul in Tests as England were bowled out for 134.
