The Raman Arora’s case has taken another turn as a close aide of AAP MLA Raman Arora, Mahesh Makhija has surrendered before the Vigilance Bureau of Punjab. According to the reports, Makhija came in front of VB on Friday morning at around 10:30 AM in Jalandhar.
Sources within the bureau have confirmed the surrender and revealed that Makhija’s name had already been included in the FIR filed days ago. A senior officer from the Vigilance Bureau stated that Mahesh Makhija is suspected of playing a key role in managing financial transactions linked to the case and could be in possession of crucial information about MLA Raman Arora’s alleged dealings and assets.
The Vigilance Bureau believes Makhija may have access to unaccounted funds that are currently under investigation. His surrender is seen as a crucial turning point, as he is expected to face interrogation related to properties, cash flow, and possible concealment of financial assets.
In a fresh development on Friday, a woman officer from the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation was also arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in connection with the same case. She was produced before the court and has been sent to remand for further questioning. Her role is under scrutiny as part of the expanding investigation into financial irregularities and benami transactions.
Earlier, the Vigilance Bureau had already arrested MLA Raman Arora and Building Inspector Harpreet Kaur, both of whom were taken for medical examination late Thursday night at Civil Hospital after being presented in court. The court granted a 4-day remand of Raman Arora to the Vigilance Bureau.
According to sources, Makhija, along with Raman Arora’s son Rajan Arora and his co-father-in-law, were named in the FIR. Vigilance officials have reportedly uncovered valuable evidence, and multiple CCTV footage trails are being examined to track missing bags believed to contain significant financial documents or assets.
The Vigilance Bureau has deployed seven teams to investigate the entire matter, which includes alleged benami (proxy) land deals worth crores in the names of family and close friends.
Authorities believe Mahesh Makhija’s surrender may lead to new revelations and could deepen the troubles for Raman Arora and others involved. A senior officer also confirmed that more arrests are expected in the coming days, including a police officer currently posted in the area, who is now under the scanner.
