Former Pakistani fast bowler and captain Waqar Younis said, "Pakistani player offering Namaz amid Hindus was his 'favourite part' of India-Pakistan match.”

Waqar praised wicketkeeper and batsman Mohammad Rizwan for his innings on a Pakistani TV show after Pakistan's T20 WC victory over India, and then added, "The best thing that Rizwan did was, mashallah, he offered namaz on the ground, while surrounded by Hindus, which was very very special for me."

Waqar was accompanied by former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar on the Pakistani news channel after achieving the historic win.

Rizwan offering Namaz on the field during drinks break could be a violation of the ICC's code of conduct, which states that religion must be kept out of the game at all times.
