In a major relief, Union Home Minister & Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal through which 10 crore depositors can recover their money which they did not get due to the Sahara Scam or let's say Sahara Crisis. Launching CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal link, Union Minister Amit Shah said, "The process of returning the money of depositors, which was stuck in four cooperative societies of Sahara Group, has started with the launch of Sahara Refund Portal." Amit Shah in his address further said, ""All data on the four Cooperatives is online... This portal will help 1.7 crore depositors register themselves...Genuine depositors will get their money back. The claim of these depositors will be settled...The money will be refunded to the bank account of depositors within 45 days." Sahara Refund Portal can be accessed directly through the website of the Ministry of Cooperation https://cooperation.gov.in. True Scoop News visited the website and there are three segments found on the Ministry of Cooperation's website- CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal, CRCS-Sahara Refund Video, and CRCS-Sahara Refund Tutorial. True Scoop News tried to access the link, but it was not opening assuming that it will be start working later. Union HM Amit Shah in his address informed that genuine depositors belonging to the aforementioned cooperative societies of the Sahara Group can submit their claims by logging into this portal and completing the online application form.

What is the process to claim the refund online?

As per reports, after logging into the Sahara Refund Portal, depositors must ensure that they upload all the required documents and possess an Aadhaar-linked mobile number and a bank account for claim processing. The Sahara Group of Co-operative Societies will verify the claim application within 30 days of submission. Depositors who have filed for reclaim on the website will receive notification of their claim status either through a text message or on the portal within 15 days after the verification process. The entire claim processing is expected to take around 45 days. Notably, applicants must submit all claims related to the four societies in a single claim application form. Furthermore, there is no fee for submitting the online form, and refund claims can only be made through the online portal.

It is pertinent to mention here that each depositor will receive only Rs 10,000 in the first phase as in the initial phase a total of Rs 5,000 crore will be disbursed through the portal to genuine depositors.If the first phase proves successful, the refund amount will be increased.

The purpose of the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal is to protect the interests of members of the cooperatives. Reportedly, the portal will help address the genuine claims of depositors who had invested money in Sahara Group’s cooperative societies namely – Sahara CreditCooperative Society Ltd, Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Ltd, Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Ltd and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd.
