Compulsory holiday on 1 May
Keeping in mind the observance of Labor Day, school and government offices will be closed on 1 May 2025 in most of the states of the country. The day is also observed to mark the state formation on this day for the state of Maharashtra, due to its establishment in the year 1960. Gujarati Day is also celebrated on the same day in the state of Gujarat.
Summer holidays on dates by states
In the north, in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana, summer holidays from mid-May till the end of June are provided. On these days the climate is scorching, and therefore, schools being kept closed is the compulsion. In the south—Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh—the summer holidays are from April onwards to June.
