Former Australian allrounder Shane Watson on Friday named his top 5 players who will drive a bidding war among the franchises in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Shane Watson on Friday took to his Twitter handle and shared a video naming his top 5 picks ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Watson shared the video with the caption saying, "On the eve of the IPL mega auction, here are 5 players that I feel are the top picks for any team. One former teammate is at the top of my list."

"Number 1 David Warner. He has got a big point to prove. Dominated the T 20 world cup. So he is going to be a big pick. Number 2 will be Mitchell Marsh. He has been a match-winner in every game that he has played over last year and he is gonna be on fire. Number 3 Shreyas Iyer. He is such an impressive young batsman, leader. Number 4 will be my mate from RCB Yuzvendra Chahal. Match winning leg-spinner, can bowl to left and right-handers. Takes crucial wickets in the middle. He is going to be one of the hot picks. And number 5 will be South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. He knows how to bowl in the death as well as at the top," said Shane Watson.  

A total of 1,214 players have registered their names for the mega auction, which is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. Of those 1,214 players, 896 are Indians and 318 are overseas players. According to a press release issued by the BCCI, the list includes 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 associate players from 10 different nations.
