Stuntman dies of electrocution on Kannada movie sets, Actor said ‘I heard their screams and rushed’

The stunt sequence was being shot at a private resort in Joegenahalli, according to reports, and the film team had not obtained permission from the relevant authorities to perform the filming.

Vivek, a 35-year-old fight master and stuntman, was electrocuted during the filming of Love You Rachchu, a Kannada film. On Monday, August 9, the team, together with the lead actors, were filming for the film in Jogenahalli, near Bidad. According to sources, the crew was filming the movie in a private resort, and the fight scene had a complete stunt crew.


Two additional persons who were involved in the stunt were hurt in the event and are being treated at a hospital. Shankar S Raj is directing the Kannada film, which stars Ajay Rao and Rachita Ram. Guru Deshpande is producing the film, and Vinod is the stunt choreographer. According to the authorities, the incident occurred owing to the film crew's carelessness in not taking safety precautions.

For the battle sequence, the crew used a metal rope and cranes. Vivek died instantly after coming into touch with a high-tension wire while filming a scene. The stunt master Vinod Master and his crew were arrested by the authorities on suspicion of carelessness and filming without permission at the location.Vinod has been arrested for interrogation by police, who have accused him and the film team with death by carelessness.

"I was sitting 200 metres away from the spot where the fight was being shot. I heard their screams and rushed to see what happened and came to learn that Vivek died on the spot. I was not part of the scene. A high tension line was nearby and there was water around the scene," Ajay Rao, the film's lead actor, told the leading daily.

Bidadi police have opened an investigation and are interviewing all members of the crew who were there at the time of the tragedy. Vivek's body was submitted for a postmortem examination.

Anil and Raghav Uday, two stuntmen, drowned during a Sandalwood film shoot in November 2016, after jumping from a helicopter into a lake. The event occurred during the filming of the movie Masti Gudi's climactic sequence. Duniya Vijay, the lead actor, was also injured in the incident and was rescued by others.
