Veteran Actor Anupam Shyam Passes Away At 63

Anupam Shyam, who is well known for his role in the television serial "Mann Kee Awaaz: Pratigya," was taken to Lifeline hospital in Goregaon four days ago.

Anupam Shyam, a veteran actor who was taken to a city hospital in Mumbai last week with a kidney infection, died on Monday from multiple organ failure, according to his buddy actor Yashpal Sharma.

The 63-year-old actor, who is well known for his roles in "Mann Kee Awaaz: Pratigya" and "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Bandit Queen," was admitted to Lifeline hospital in Goregaon four days ago.

Shyam died at the hospital, according to Mr Sharma, in the presence of his two brothers, Anurag and Kanchan.

"We found out about his death 40 minutes ago from the physicians. I was with his brothers, Anurag and Kanchan, at the hospital.Today morning, it will be delivered to his home in New Dindoshi, MHADA community. Later in the day, the funeral would be held " Mr Sharma said to a local news channel.

Shyam has appeared in films like as "Satya," "Dil Se," "Lagaan," and "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi," and has garnered critical praise for his portrayal as Thakur Sajjan Singh on "Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya," which aired on Star Plus in 2009.


He'd just started filming season two of his show "Mann Ki Awaaz: Pratigya.”

Shyam was having dialysis and was transferred to the Goregaon hospital after collapsing during his dialysis, according to Anurag.

The actor's family had also asked help from his entertainment industry friends for his treatment.


On Monday morning, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences for the late actor's death on Twitter. "I am really saddened to learn of the passing of well-known actor Anupam Shyam Ojha ji. My condolences to the bereaved families. Praying to Lord Shri Ram to provide the departed soul a place at his feet and strength to his grieving family and followers to endure this loss. Om Shanti," he wrote.
