The mega 16-team T20 World Cup kicked off today in Australia with 8 teams vying for 4 spots that will join the top 8 limited format giants in the Super 12.

The Caribbean power horses will be led by southpaw Nicholas Pooran in the first match of the qualifying round of Group B. The match will be played in Hobart and will begin at 9.30 AM IST.

On day 1 of the tournament that will last over for a month, the underdogs Namibia defeated Asian Champion Sri Lanka by 55 runs.

Batting first Namibia posted a total of 163 for the Lankans which they failed to take over as the Namibian bowlers were too good for them by bowling out the Lankans for just 108.
