West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle has thanked India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending the coronavirus vaccine to Jamaica. Gayle has put out a thanks-giving message in a video. He is the second player from his team after Andre Russell to thank India for donating 50,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Caribbean country.

In a 17-second video tweeted by the Indian High Commission in Jamaica, the Universe Boss is heard saying, "Hon’ble PM of India and the people of India, the government of India, I want to thank you for your donation of vaccine to Jamaica, I appreciate it. Thank you so much. India, I will see you soon.”

The Windies batsman also met Indian High Commissioner R. Masakui at the High Commission on Thursday and said to have a candid chat.

Under the Government of India’s ‘Vaccine Maitri’ global initiative, India is providing the Covid-19 vaccine to all friendly nations. Jamaica received the vaccine from India on Monday.

On Wednesday, another West Indies cricketer Andre Russell posted a video thanking India and Modi for sending Covid-19 vaccines to their country Jamaica. “I just want to say a big, big, big thank you to Prime Minister Modi and the India High Commission. The vaccines are here and we are excited. I would love to see the world going back to normal. Jamaica people really appreciate it and just to show that we are more than close, India and Jamaica are now brothers. I appreciate it and stay safe over there. Peace,” Russell said.
