After the look test, television actress Divyanka Tripathi rejected Bade Acche Lagte Hain 2 because she thought her coupling with TV actor Nakuul Mehta would be "a little odd." Divyanka, who is well-known for her roles in programmes like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Banoo Main Teri Dulhan, believes that a different female lead would work better with Nakuul.

“After working for so many years in this profession, if it is myself or anyone as an actress, we should at least have this liberty to choose a project that I am enthusiastic about,” Divyanka remarked in an exclusive interview with a leading news channel. She also expressed her dissatisfaction with the project and informed the production house of her sentiments, declining the role.

“As far as the report of me seeming older than him onscreen is regarded, in reality I absolutely agree with it,” she stated of the onscreen combination. Because when I was offered the programme and this idea, I was taken aback when I learned about the pairing, and my family had the same reaction. They thought we'd appear a little strange. However, after speaking with the show's producers over the phone, I agreed to take part in the look test. Let's put our couple through the appearance test and see how they look onscreen.”

“I got this intuition that Nakuul and I wouldn't match or look nice onscreen together,” Divyanka continued. That idea is great with me. I believe that someone else who joins the cast to play the female lead will do the show honour, and I had expressed my opinion. This is something I've done on my own.”
