Team India Speedster Jaspirt Bumrah who made his comeback during the Ireland series and spearheaded India's bowling during the Asia Cup 2023 was rested in the second ODI. What happened to Jaspiurt Bumrah?

BCCI took to its official X handle, formerly known as Twitter, and explained why Jaspirt Bumrah is not playing India vs Australia second ODI. As per BCCI, Bumrah did not travel with the team to Indore as he went to visit his family. "Mr Jasprit Bumrah did not travel with the team to Indore for the 2nd ODI against Australia. He has gone to visit his family and given a short break by the team management. Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has joined the team as Bumrah's replacement for the 2nd ODI. Bumrah will join the team for the final ODI in Rajkot."

During the toss, Team India's stand-in captain KL Rahul said, " We would have bowled first as well considering the size of the ground. Good wicket, good challenge to put runs on the board. We only have one change from the last game. Jasprit is rested, Prasidh (Krishna) comes in. Good for all our batters to spend some time in the middle."

Jaspirt Bumrah's injury

Jasprit Bumrah remained out of the team for almost 2 long years due to injury. Bumrah, who underwent surgery in New Zealand for a back injury, was undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy for a while. Talking more about Jasprit Bumrah's injury, the 29-year-old cricketer had pulled out of the 2022 Asia Cup before that. Shortly after his return in September in a series against South Africa, Bumrah pulled out of the assignment with a reported stress reaction in his lower back. It subsequently led to him missing out on the 2022 T20 World Cup. He was then added to the squad for an ODI series agianst Sri Lanka in January this year but then pulled out after complaining of a pain in his back. He was then subsequently ruled out of the 2023 IPL, the four-match Test series at home against Australia and the WTC final.
