In an unfortunate hit and run case in Punjab’s Jalandhar, two women pedestrians were mowed down by a speeding vehicle. Where one died on spot, another is critically injured. The vehicle that hit women is said to be of a police official, who is absconding.


The deadly car accident took place at Jalandhar- Phagwara highway near Danowali, Jalandhar around 8:30 pm on Monday.

Reportedly, two women- Navjot Kaur and her friend- residents of Dhanowali village were crossing the road when a speeding car hit them and fled the scene. Navjot Kaur died on the spot. Her friend was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and is critical.


The two women worked in Kosmo Hyundai and were crossing the road to catch an auto and go for work.

The vehicle, which crushed the two women has been seized by police. The car has a Hoshiyarpur number plate and is said to be owned by a police official.

The kin and villagers of deceased Navjot Kaur are protesting at the site of the accident, while the police are trying to calm them down. Jalandhar-Phagwara highway remains blocked and no one vehicle is allowed to cross by the site.

The investigation is underway.
