Jalandhar DC on bomb threat to schools

An official release has been issued over the matter. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur on Monday urged residents not to panic following bomb threat emails sent to several schools in the city, stating that preliminary investigations have found the threats to be frivolous in nature.

Addressing the media at the District Administrative Complex here, the Deputy Commissioner said that both the civil and police administrations acted swiftly after bomb threats were received by as many as 11 schools.

As a precautionary measure, anti-sabotage teams and other security officials were immediately dispatched to the concerned schools to thoroughly check their premises. “No suspicious object or activity was detected during the comprehensive search operations,” he said, adding that school managements were already informed about the safety drill and extended full cooperation to the administration.

Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur disclosed that an FIR has been registered under the Cyber Cell to investigate the origin of the threatening emails. She said cyber teams were working to ascertain the source of VPN used to send the emails. “So far, nothing suspicious has been found, and the threats appear to be aimed at creating unnecessary panic among the public,” she said.
