In a major development, Jalandhar Municipal Corporation on Friday carried out a demolition drive near Heat 7 building. As per information received, Jalandhar MC took action against the famous Bansal Sweet in Jawahar Nagar Market in Jalandhar. The issue of encroachment and unauthorized construction around the property had been brewing for a long time.
A video of demolition drive has also come to the fore. Municipal Town Planner (MTP) Mehrban Singh lead the demolition drive and a ditch machine was used to demolish parts of the structure. MC officials removed alleged illegal extensions on both the front and back sides of the building.
A heavy police force was deployed alongside the Municipal Corporation team.
It is said that a person named Rajwinder Bhalla had filed a complaint with the Municipal Corporation regarding the illegal building. A notice was issued to the owners regarding the building. Now, Jalandhar MC has carried out demolition drive today. Bhalla stated that there is a date in the High Court and the case is ongoing. He added that the owner of Bansal Sweets could provide more information on the matter, but they were not present.
A complaint was given to Jalandhar Municipal Corporation (MC) in which it was alleged that the construction of the Bansal Sweets shop is illegal, and both the sides of the building have allegedly encroached upon the market’s parking space.
To address the concern, (then) Jalandhar MC Commissioner Gautam Jain had called representatives of two sweets shops- Bansal Sweets and Ghanshyam Sweets.
For those who are unaware, the building in New Jawahar Nagar in Jalandhar where once iconic Heat-7 restaurant operated had undergone renovation. It was marred with legal complications.
Amritsar's famous Bansal Sweets has opened its branch in place on Heart-7. As per sources, Heat-7 is likely to relocate to a new place.
