

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has appealed to all eligible voters in the state to take part in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being conducted by the Election Commission of India and has asked people to fill the required enumeration form so that their names remain in the voter list.
In a video message released while he is on a health and wellness retreat in Bengaluru, the Chief Minister said that every voter should participate in the revision exercise and said people only need to fill a form to ensure that their names continue to remain in the electoral rolls.
Mann said that if a person does not submit the form, his or her name will be removed from the voter list, he added that such people would not be able to exercise their right to vote and would also not be eligible to receive the benefits of government welfare schemes, including the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana and other social security schemes.
The Special Intensive Revision is being carried out by the Election Commission of India across Punjab and as part of the exercise, house-to-house enumeration began on June 25 and will continue till July 24, 2026, during this period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are visiting every household to verify voter details and collect Enumeration Forms from eligible voters.
The Election Commission has asked voters to cooperate with the BLOs during the verification process, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anindita Mitra pointed out that there had been instances of misbehaviour with Booth Level Officers by members of the public in Patiala and Barnala districts and she also appealed to people to extend full cooperation to the officials carrying out the survey.
Before the launch of the statewide exercise, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu and the meeting was attended by Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra and District Election Officers from SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Ropar and SBS Nagar and during the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer informed officials that Punjab has an electoral framework consisting of five divisions, 23 districts and 117 Assembly constituencies, the state has a total of 24,453 polling stations located at 14,664 polling locations. She also said that 85.82 percent of voters in Punjab have already been mapped.
The Election Commission reviewed the preparations for the revision exercise across the state and according to officials, a three-day state-level training programme for Additional District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Election Tehsildars and technical staff has been completed, district-level training for Booth Level Officers and their supervisors is also underway. Officials said that the printing of electoral materials is in progress and will be completed before the house-to-house verification process is fully carried out and the Election Commission said all necessary preparations are being made to ensure the revision exercise is completed smoothly.
Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu instructed district officials to maintain accuracy, transparency and inclusiveness during the revision of electoral rolls and he stressed that no eligible voter should be left out and no ineligible name should remain in the voter list, officials also highlighted the important role of Booth Level Officers in visiting households, verifying voter details and helping citizens fill the required forms, the Election Commission has also directed officials to complete the exercise within the given timeline and continue voter awareness campaigns across the state.
