

In a major development, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur has announced fresh restrictions to maintain law and order in the city. CP Kaur exercised the powers obtained under Section 163 of the Security Code, 2023, and has made a series of announcements.
A ban has been imposed on any type of weapon within limits such as a baseball, sharp weapon, bladed weapon or any deadly weapon.
There is a ban on 'carrying' these weapons in the vehicle.
Similarly, holding any kind of procession or carrying weapons in any event/procession within the limits of the Commissionerate Police has been banned.
Assembly of five or more persons and sloganeering have also been banned.
Through another order by the Police Commissioner, carrying weapons to marriage palaces, banquet halls, weddings, and other social events have also been banned.
Owners of marriage palaces and banquet halls have been instructed to install CCTV cameras.
According to another order issued by the Police Commissioner, house owners, landlords, and PG owners must provide complete details of tenants and domestic workers at their nearest Police Saanjh Kendra (Police Facilitation Centre). Keeping tenants or employees without informing the police will be treated as a violation of this order.
Through another order, manufacturers/dealers of firecrackers have been instructed to print the sound level (in decibels) on the packets of firecrackers.
According to another order issued by the Police Commissioner, all hotels, motels, guest houses, and inns have been instructed not to accommodate any person without proper identification.
Self-attested photocopy will be kept as record and after verifying the mobile number of the person/guest staying in hotels or guest houses. Guest details must be maintained in a register and submitted daily by 10 AM to the respective Station House Officer (SHO).
The register must also be verified every Monday by the SHO, and records must be produced to police when required.
If a foreign national stays at any such establishment, the management must immediately inform the In-charge of the Foreigners Registration Office at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar.
Additionally, CCTV cameras must be installed at hotel corridors, lifts, reception counters, and main entry gates.
Furthermore, the use of modified or loud silencers on Bullet motorcycles within Jalandhar Commissionerate limits has been banned.
All the above orders will remain in force till January 8, 2026.
