

Punjab witnessed 3-days of intense fog in most of its districts in last 2-3 days. As a result, visibility in the region also dropped sharply. Jalandhar recorded multiple accidents during the night and early morning because of low visibility triggered by dense. Apart from this. heavy traffic problem persists in the city of Jalandhar.
According to reports, traffic lights are either not working or shut down at 11 points in Jalandhar. Furthermore, side lights are not functioning in at least 5 locations.
A few of the areas that are facing traffic light issues are- Defence Colony, PIMS, Chhoti Baradari, Urban Estate Phase-2, Ladowali Road, Bus Stand area, Kala Sanghia Drain stretch, DAV College bridge blinkers, HMV–Dana Mandi entry, Lamma Pind Chowk, Kishanpura Chowk, and, 66-feet road, Urban Estate.
Highways are also facing problems of non-blinkers, such as- Focal Point Vehicle Underpass, Verka Milk Plant stretch, etc.
On being asked about the faulty traffic lights in the city, Jalandhar Mayor Vaneet Dhir informed True Scoop that a notice was already issued to the company over the faulty traffic lights. Mayor Dhir assured that the faulty traffic lights will start working properly after today.
Mayor Vaneet Dhir further informed a long term solution has also been thought to address the issue. He informed that in the next 6 months, traffic lights will be digitalised.
