The Indian team achieved a record victory by 317 runs over England in the second Test. It is the 34th overall victory of the Indian team under Virat Kohli's captaincy and the 21st victory over home grounds. Now Virat has equaled Mahendra Singh Dhoni's record for the most home wins. Dhoni has captained Team India in a total of 30 Tests on Indian soil. In this he got 21 wins and 3 defeats. There were 6 test draws. At the same time, India played 28 matches at home grounds under Virat's captaincy. It won 21. They faced two defeats and drew 5 Tests. These two have now come jointly in the first place in terms of winning the most number of wins in India.

While the Indian cricket team is enjoying its record victory under the captainship of Kohli, England's cricket pundits and former cricketers have demanded to ban the Indian team captain Virat Kohli. The English veterans' demands come after Kohli indulged in a verbal spat with umpire Nitin Menon when he gave not-out to Joe Root on the 3rd day of the play.

Writing for the Daily Mail, former England cricketer David Lloyd said, "No word of any disciplinary action against Virat Kohli then? I chuckle and I despair. Cricket is so archaic. The captain of a national team is allowed to criticise, berate, intimidate and ridicule an official on the pitch. And he was allowed to carry on playing on in the second Test! In any other sport, he would have been sent off the field. Kohli certainly shouldn't be playing in Ahmedabad next week."

Talking about the pitch Lloyd said, "This Test, to me, was a non-event. And to be brutally honest I've had no real interest in it since the first morning when the pitch exploded. I knew all I needed to know then. The result was inevitable, it was just a matter of time. For the record, India played better, obviously, and England's spinners were found wanting in the most helpful of conditions."

"OK, you can tell me India got more than 600 runs in the match including a century from their No 8 Ravi Ashwin, but that's not the point. The point is these two Tests have been played at the same ground, 15 yards apart, but one pitch was prepared and the other wasn't. This one was an embarrassment. The simple question is, why? I don't suppose we'll be hearing from the ICC on this one either. They are an organization that just pussy-foots around," added Bumble.

Michael Vaughan:

Taking the criticism ahead, former England captain Michael Vaughan said, "You can’t have this, I’m sorry. Kohli is such a powerhouse, you can’t have him intimidating the umpire. It’s a stinker of a decision but you can’t be doing that as a captain."

Naseer Hussain:

The veteran English cricketer said, "It was odd that the India team and their captain took the full 15 seconds to work out whether to review or not. They weren’t actually sure what they were reviewing for. hat tends to suggest there was a bit of doubt in their minds and yet Kohli seemed agitated by an umpire who had a milli-second to make that decision. If they were so certain that it was out and should have been given straight away, why did it take them so long? ‘Kohli pushes the line with umpires and officials. Joe Root went up and asked in a very smiley sort of way about a review earlier in the game, but Kohli is a lot more animated when he speaks to them — which doesn’t look good."
