Multiple prominent schools of Jalandhar on January 31 received bomb threat email. The sender threatened to blow up schools as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan on February 1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Jalandhar on the occasion of Guru Ravidass Ji's Parkash Purab.
Among the prominent schools that received the threats are Cambridge International CoEd School, Police DAV Public School, MGN Public School, Cambridge Innovative School, IVY World School, C.T. Public School, LBS etc.
It is pertinent to mention here that schools of Jalandhar are closed on January 31 over Guru Ravidass Ji’s Parkash Purab. Hence, there are no students in schools.
The sender wrote that there will bomb blasts in three to four schools. It also warned Dera Sachkhand Ballan. The sender wrote that although it respects Guru Ravidass Ji, but Prime Minister Narendra 'Modi is an enemy of the Khalistanis'.
It further wrote that there is no dispute with the Dera head, Sant Niranjan Das Ji, but 'Modi is now the target'. The pro-Khalistan sender further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is responsible for the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, and hence he is on their target.
It is pertinent to mention here that India has refuted reports in Canadian media regarding the killing of India-designated Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was aware of the alleged plot of assassinate Nijjar.
The MEA has issued statements that "smear campaigns" like this only "further damage our already strained ties" and said such reports should be dismissed with the "contempt they deserve".
"We do not normally comment on media reports. However, such ludicrous statements made to a newspaper purportedly by a Canadian government source should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve. Smear campaigns like this only further damage our already strained ties," a statement by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.
Nijjar was killed outside the Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia. India-Canada ties nosedived last month after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau linked Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Verma and some other diplomats to the murder.
As of now, teams of police officials rushed to the affected schools, and bomb disposal squads were called in to conduct thorough searches of the premises. As a precautionary measure, security has been tightened, and investigations are underway to trace the origin of the email.
