The police have initiated a formal investigation after a 15-year-old girl from Puadra village gave birth to a child and a case has been registered against a young man from Amritsar identified as Rahul.

Complained of stomach pain

The incident came to light after the girl a 9th-grade student complained of persistent stomach pain for over a month which was initially treated with basic medication but with time her condition worsened.

On April 19 her family took her to a hospital in Phillaur, where she was referred to a specialist where medical examinations revealed a shocking discovery uncovering that the teenager was at full term in her pregnancy and following this she gave birth shortly after the check-up.

Lived with her aunt 

Following the delivery the girl’s aunt (the complainant) questioned her about the situation and the girl revealed that she had been assaulted by a youth named Rahul who resides in Amritsar. As per reports the the girl had been living with her aunt for the last seven months after her mother left the family 13 years ago. Following her grandfather's death last year she moved in with her aunt in Puadra village.

Police probe begins

The Bilga Police have officially filed a First Information Report (FIR) based on the aunt's statement and the charges include: Section 65(1) of the BNS: relates to severe punishment for sexual assault, Section 6 of the POCSO Act: a strict law designed to protect children from sexual offenses carrying heavy penalties and the police are currently working to find the exact address of the accused Rahul to proceed with an arrest.
